Well, what can I say about today.  We spent a lot of time inside, and I guess Noi and I realized this would happen, so we took advantage of relatively non-rainy skies to get out and about and get some pictures.  We decided to go to the Surat Thani train station and take advantage of a few photo ops.  The train station was interesting, as I have always had an interest in trains, especially old ones.  I was happy that there were at least a couple old trains there (ones that looked like they had at some point caught fire), and the rails themselves were pretty photogenic.  There was a little market across the footbridge from the station, so we wandered through the aisles for a few minutes.

On the way back from the train station, we stopped at the mall and had an iced coffee (for me) and an iced chocolate (for Noi) at the McCafe.  While there, Noi found some walls that she wanted photos by, so I obliged her, of course.  It was a good time together, and I will miss these moments in the next 10 months, as we wait for Noi's visa to go through.  However, I will be back in November and probably in January as well, so that will make it easier to handle being separated for so long.

I have decided to spend my "free" time for the next 10 months working on research and preparing for prelims for my dissertation.  It is time to buckle down and make the effort, of course.  Therefore, that's what I will do.

Anyway, after our outing, we came back to the hotel and chilled out while eating our lunch (brought back from the mall) and contemplating what to do next.  After awhile, we noticed that our window of time to go to the pool was closing, as the dark clouds in the distance were not so distant any more.  Therefore, we went down to the pool for about 10 minutes or so and then the rain came en force.

Well, not much more to tell other than we finally ventured into the restaurant downstairs to have dinner (we had only had breakfast there up until tonight).  I ordered salad and corn chowder because I was tired of eating so many carbs.  The salad was huge, and the soup was good enough.  Noi evidently liked her seafood and boiled rice as well, but I was already too full to help her out with it.  At any rate, here we are...almost time for bed, and I am plucking out this blog...I hope everyone is doing well.
